Police seek man over attempted raid of Sheffield bookmakers

Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to trace over an attempted robbery of a bookmakers in Sheffield.

Officers believe the man could hold vital information on the raid at Ladbrokes in Lancing Road, Highfield.

Staff said they were threatened by a man, who was carrying a gun shaped item in a blue carrier bag.

He left the shop empty-handed and South Yorkshire Police said nobody was injured.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Officers investigating the incident are keen to speak to the man, who they believe could hold important information that would assist with the investigation."At about 8.05pm on Monday, June 6, it is reported that an unknown man entered Ladbrokes on Lancing Road and threatened staff with a blue carrier bag concealing what it described as a gun-shaped item."The offender left empty handed and no weapon was seen during the incident.

"No one was injured."Detectives investigating the matter want to hear from you if you recognise the man pictured in the images."If you know who he is or have any information about the incident, please call."
