Police seek community crime fighters for Killamarsh

They are seeking volunteers to help coordinate Neighbourhood Watch schemes in their area.

Neighbourhood Watches are small groups of residents who look out for signs of crime in their community and share information with each other and the police.

Members also receive advice on home security and coordinators can help other residents to tap into the support offered by other agencies.

Sergeant Aidan Stones, of the Killamarsh Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Being part of Killamarsh Neighbourhood Watch can be as simple or as involved as you would like. You could choose to be a nominated person on your road, and act as a point of contact to your local Safer Neighbourhood policing team, or help out by setting up a group of neighbours who want to be part of the scheme.

“Getting involved in the initiative has many benefits from helping to prevent and detect crime, creating a strong community spirit and possibly even reducing the cost of home insurance in your neighbourhood.”
