Police officers investigating the theft of a motorbike want Sheffield residents to check their CCTV systems.

South Yorkshire Police recovered a Honda Varadero motorbike from Linley Lane, Frecheville, on Thursday, July 7 and found that it was fitted with number plates stolen from a vehicle in Weakland Crescent, Hackenthorpe, that morning.

The bike was seen in the Youlgreave Drive area at around 11am that day being pushed by a teenage boy aged between 15 and 17 years old.

The teenager was wearing a white helmet.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Does anyone have CCTV for the Weakland Crescent or Youlgreave Drive areas, which may have captured this male or anyone acting suspiciously?

"From a security point of view, please remember it's not just cars and vans that are targeted but bikes as well. Please take the necessary steps to secure your vehicle at all times."

Call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
