Police seal off street in Sheffield city centre as man climbs onto car park roof

A man was talked down from a car park roof in Sheffield this morning.

He climbed onto the top of the NCP car park in Eyre Street in the city centre earlier today.

Police officers closed Eyre Street and Matilda Street to passing traffic and pedestrians while specialists talked the man down.

Paramedics were on stand by at the scene.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A man who was seen on the edge of multi-storey car park in central Sheffield has been brought to safety by police.

“Police were called to the car park in Eyre Street at 10.15am this morning and after speaking to the man for around 45 minutes, he was brought to safety.

“Eyre street and Matilda Street were closed while officers dealt with the incident.”
