Police have reassured people in Dronfield that rumours dogs are being poisoned are ‘not true’.

Derbyshire Police said some local residents have not been walking their dogs as a result of the ‘urban myth’.

Sergeant Aidan Stones said: “There has been one unexplained death of a young dog almost a month ago, but we have received no reports of dogs being poisoned in the area.”

He added rumours that police and dog wardens have been searching parks are also false.
