Police respond to a herd of Doncaster donkeys on the loose in a children's playground

Police officers in Doncaster have successfully detained eight suspects on the run - a pesky gang of donkeys on the loose.

PSCOs were called out to reports that the sneaky escape artists had camped out in a children’s playground in Stainforth.

The herd had escaped and wandered off into the road during foggy conditions early this morning, prompting a quick response from officers.

All eight donkeys have now been returned safe and sound.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The local PCSO’s of Stainforth have had an unusual Friday morning. Eight donkeys captured and returned safely home, after reports of them being loose on the highways in foggy conditions.

“No accidents reported, keeping the roads safe.”
