Police rescue dog locked in car at Centertainment complex in Sheffield

Police officers rescued a distressed dog locked in a car in Sheffield as temperatures reached 23C.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross was spotted by concerned members of the public at the Centertainment complex.

South Yorkshire Police deployed officers to the scene, who freed the distressed dog.

A spokesman said: "The dog was rescued by officers who were called by members of the public.

"They were concerned that the dog had been locked in a car and the temperature outside was 23 degrees.

"Officers attended and the dog was very distressed and did not look well. The decision was to force entry to the vehicle and rescue him. He was very relieved to be out of the car.

"RSPCA officers are carrying out an investigation.

"Do not leave animals, or children, unattended in vehicles, especially during the summer. The temperature inside the vehicle will be much higher than outside and it can kill."
