On Saturday, September 26, officers were travelling along Prince of Wales Road when they found the injured cyclist lying on the path, underneath the railway bridge, at 8:30pm.

It was understood the 55-year-old man had been cycling towards Darnall when he was possibly involved in a collision with a dark-coloured 4x4 vehicle.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In their latest statement, the police said the search for the vehicle continues.

They also republished the CCTV footage of the vehicle the police want to trace as they believe the driver and occupants of the vehicle could hold vital information into the incident.

"Officers now wish to trace the occupants of a black people-carrier type vehicle, which was seen on CCTV travelling along Prince of Wales Road towards Darnall shortly before the incident,” the statement said.

Lead Investigating Officer, Acting Police Sergeant Martyn Mickelthwaite said the police are aware that the vehicle in the CCTV was driving behind the cyclist moments before the incident occurred.
