Police re-appeal for witnesses after pensioner hit by reversing car in Sheffield

An elderly pedestrian remains in a critical condition after she was hit by a car in Sheffield.

Betty Vallance was hit by a Toyota Celica outside shops on Sandygate Road, Crosspool, on Saturday, October 25.

The car was reversing outside the shops when it struck Betty, who police believe may have been using a walking stick at the time, at about 11am.

The 93-year-old, from Crosspool, was taken to hospital suffering from what was believed to be minor injuries.

But her condition has deteriorated in hospital and she is now in a critical condition.

Officers investigating are re-appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen events leading up to the collision to contact them.
