A police probe is underway after a woman was filmed spitting at and hurling racial abuse at a takeaway worker in Sheffield.

Footage of the incident, filmed at the Chicken Stop on the corner of Carver Street and Division Street in Sheffield city centre, has gone viral after being been shared on social media networks.

Another woman is captured attempting to encourage the culprit to leave the takeaway, but she refuses and continues with her tirade of abuse.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from the woman being denied free water in the shop.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "This is being investigated by the Central Neighbourhood Team."
