Police probe launched after taxi is shot at in Sheffield

A police probe has been launched into a shooting in Sheffield after a gun was fired at a taxi.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Margate Drive, Pitsmoor, at around 9.30pm yesterday.

South Yorkshire Police said a taxi was fired at and enquiries are now under way to establish who was in the car at the time.

Today a police cordon is in place and the taxi can be seen with a broken window and shattered glass on the ground next to it.South Yorkshire Police said: An investigation is underway after reports of a shot being fired towards a taxi last night.

“Officers were called to Margate Drive at around 9.30pm.

“Damage was caused to the vehicle.

“Enquiries are underway to trace the passengers of the vehicle.

“One person has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.”
