A police probe is underway into a shooting in which a car was damaged in a South Yorkshire street.

South Yorkshire Police said a Volkswagen Golf was damaged while it was parked outside a house in Pitt Street, Kimberworth, Rotherham, at 11pm on Saturday, March 25.

The incident is being treated as a 'targeted attack'.

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers investigating damage caused to a car on Pitt Street, Rotherham, are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"At around 11pm on Saturday, March 25, it was reported that a VW Golf parked outside of a property on Pitt Street had been damaged by what is thought to have been a potential firearm.

"Police are currently investigating what they believe to be a targeted attack and would like to speak to anyone who may have any information about the incident, or who saw what happened."
