A car was stolen from outside a bungalow in Handley Lane using the keys taken from the property, and jewellery, a camera, mobile phone and a sat-nav were stolen from a house in Craggon Drive.

Inspector Rob Bowns, of Derbyshire Police, said: “Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area but we would urge anyone who saw anything in the Whittington area which may have been suspicious to contact us, no matter how small you think it could be.

“Patrols are being carried out in the area but any information the community can offer will help police to find those responsible for carrying out these distressing crimes.

"Residents are also encouraged to make sure their homes are secure, to consider marking up any valuables, storing them out of view from passers-by and to keep any garden gates locked."
