Police probe into burglaries across Sheffield

Officers said there were 36 burglaries in Sharrow, Sharrowvale, Highfield and Nether Edge in the first three months of March.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The majority of these were insecure premises. Please lock your doors.”

Homes were targeted in Sharrow Lane and Cemetery Avenue in Sharrow after windows were left insecure.

A window was forced open by a burglar who got into a property in Ironside Place, Gleadless Valley and a window was smashed to get into a home in Gaunt Close, also Gleadless Valley.

Crooks forced a door to break into a house in Abbey Lane, Beauchief and attempts were made to force open doors in Helston Rise, Millhouses; Leighton Drive, Low Edges and Whirlowdale Road, Whirlow.

Another home in Heeley Bank Road, Heeley, was broken into after a door was left unlocked.

A man has been arrested over sneak-in burglaries in Harland Road and nearby Pomona Street, Sharrow.

Witnesses to any of the burglaries or anyone with information on those responsible or handling stolen goods should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
