Police probe alleged sex attack in Chesterfield

Police are probing reports of a serious sex attack in Chesterfield.

A 26-year-old woman has told officers that she was assaulted while on a night out in the town.

The alleged attack happened in an alleyway which leads between Corporation Street and Tapton Lane at about 2am on Saturday.

The alleyway was cordoned off with crime scene tape for a time after police received the report.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “We’re currently carrying out investigations.

“We’ve been examining the scene and we’ll be looking at local CCTV.

“Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
