Police plant new daffodils

GREEN fingered bobbies swapped their batons for trowels to help plant 1,000 daffodils in a Chesterfield park.

Officers from the Dunston, Moor and St Helen’s Safer Neighbourhood Team worked with youngsters from Newbold Community School and Gilbert Heathcote Infants to plant the bulbs at Stand Road Park.

The initiative was organised by the Friends of Stand Road Park and councillors.

Police Community Support Officer Steve Pol said: “It is great to get youngsters involved in projects like this that encourage pride in their local area.”
