police in Chesterfield have organised a series of free games evenings to help keep youngsters off the streets during winter nights.

Officers have planned weekly sessions so youngsters can play the latest computer games at St Augustine’s Church and the Eagle Club, Newbold.

The St Augustine’s sessions run from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesdays and the Newbold sessions are held on Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

PCSO Zoe Blount, of Holmebrook and Rother Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We ran sessions before the summer holidays and they were really well attended with up to 70 youngsters turning up every week. We hope it will be fun for the kids each week.”

Gamezone sessions are staffed by volunteers and open to all children aged between eight and 16-years-old.
