Police name biker who lost fight for life after losing control and crashing into road sign

A motorcyclist seriously injured in a collision in Rotherham has lost his fight for life.

Wayne Kershaw, aged 40 and from Eastwood, Rotherham, lost control of his bike as he was riding away from Parkgate Retail World at 1.45am on Sunday, August 9.

South Yorkshire Police said he lost control shortly after riding his grey Yamaha motorbike under a bridge along Rotherham Road.

His bike left the road and collided with a road sign.

Mr Kershaw suffered serious head and spinal injuries and was taken to hospital but died yesterday.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Our Serious Collisions Unit are investigating.

“They would also like to hear from anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area prior to collision.

“It is believed that a second motorcyclist was in the area at the time, anyone with information relating to this bike is urged to contact the police.”
