Police issue warning over firework prank in Sheffield

Wheelie bins are exploding in a firework prank on a Sheffield estate.

Police officers have issued a warning over a firework prank

South Yorkshire Police said a number of bins have been damaged by lit fireworks being set off inside them.

Incidents have been reported in the Richmond Hall area of Woodthorpe.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We have received a call in relation to a group of youths placing lit fireworks into wheelie bins around the Richmond Hall area of Woodthorpe.

"Some of these wheelie bins have exploded under pressure.

"Please keep your wheelie bins out of sight and easy reach of opportunist. Place bins out the morning they are due to be emptied to ensure these are not damaged overnight."
