Police issue re-appeal over attempted robbery at Sheffield bookmakers

Police are re-appealing for information in connection with an attempted robbery at a bookmakers.

When the member of staff went into the back of the premises, the man left empty-handed and headed towards Chestnut Avenue.

He was reportedly wearing dark clothing and is believed to have had his face covered. Nobody was injured during the incident.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed pending further enquiries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to hear from anyone living locally that may not have come forward, or from anyone who may hold CCTV or other footage that could assist with the investigation.

“Did you see anything suspicious in the Wales Road area that Sunday morning?

“If so, or if you hold any information that could help officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 385 of 13 December 2015. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
