Police issue plea for help to prevent terrorism in South Yorkshire

As part of a national campaign launched today, the North East Counter Terrorism Unit and forces across the region, including South Yorkshire Police, are urging people with suspicions or concerns to voice them.

Counter terrorism officers also want to hear about terrorist related material or extremist content online.

Detective Chief Superintendent Clive Wain, head of the North East Counter Terrorism Unit, said: “While the police and partner agencies work tirelessly to identify and disrupt the terrorist threat, it is vital that we continue to have the support of our communities who are our eyes and ears in day to day life.

“Communities defeat terrorism and we have had direct experience of members of the public providing valuable information which has supported our efforts to counter terrorism."
