Police officers investigating a collision which left a 78-year-old woman fighting for life have issued a new appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The pensioner was struck by a white Ford Transit van which had emerged from Woodsetts Road and turned right onto The Baulk, heading towards Nursery Road, North Anston.

The collision occurred at around 1.35pm on Saturday, August 2 and the woman remains in hospital, where her condition is now stable.

Police understand there may have been a ‘near miss collision’ moments earlier involving the 78-year-old woman and another vehicle in the same area.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
