Cars across Sheffield have been broken into for valuables left inside.

Handbags were stolen by thieves in Norton Lees Road, Norton Lees; Napier Street, Ecclesall and Romney Gardens, Heeley.

Tools were stolen from a van in Cartmell Road, Woodseats; a mobile phone was taken from Meersbrook Park Road, Meersbrook and a radio was stolen from a car in John Street, Highfields, after a door lock was drilled out.

Number plates have been reported stolen from vehicles parked in Broadfield Road, Abbeydale and Roxton Road, Meadowhead.

Headlights were taken from a vehicle in Lupton Road, Lowedges.

South Yorkshire Police has issued a number of warnings to motorists to avoid leaving valuables on display in their vehicles and to remember to lock the doors when not in use.

Witnesses to any of the break-ins or anyone with information on those responsible or handling stolen goods should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
