Police investigate Sheffield city centre sex attack

Police are investigating a sex attack in Sheffield city centre.

A 31-year-old woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by a man as she left an apartment in the Blonk Street area at about 5.50pm on Saturday.

Detective inspector Mark Monteiro said: “An investigation is now underway to identify the man involved in this incident and we have a dedicated team of officers working on this.

“The man is described as in his early 30s, Asian, of medium build and was reportedly wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt.

“We have officers in the area to provide reassurance to local residents and we will be reviewing CCTV footage to try and identify the man allegedly involved.”

DI Monteiro urged anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or matching the description to contact police on 101.
