Police hunt station thief

POLICE are hunting a bike thief who assaulted a man when he was confronted at Sheffield’s railway station.

A 30-year-old man was returning to the cycle rack, where he had secured his bike, when he saw a man riding off on it.

When he chased the thief and grabbed hold of him he was struck with his own bike lock.

A member of the public also intervened and pulled the thief off the bike but he managed to run away.

Detective Constable Bob Hunt, of British Transport Police, said: “If you know the man we’d like to hear from you.
