Rail passengers users have complained to the police about football fans chanting anti-Semitic songs on a train.

The incident happened on board the 18:02 Birmingham New Street to Leeds service, which travelled through Sheffield and Chesterfield, on Saturday, April 26.

PC Gareth Swiffen, of British Transport Police, said: “This was an intimidating and upsetting experience for people on board the train who were extremely offended by some of the fan’s actions.

“I’d urge anyone who was travelling on the service who may be able to assist with our enquiries to please come forward and contact us.”
