South Yorkshire Police officers raised £3,000 for charity by organising a boxing night.

More than 200 people were ringside at the Niagara Sports and Social Club to watch 15 members of South Yorkshire Police going toe-to-toe in two minute rounds.

In between the action an auction was held for items including Sheffield Wednesday tickets, flights and hotel packages.

The money raised is to be used by Macmillan Cancer Support to fund nurses and specialist palliative end-of-life care.

Rob Turner, the charity’s fundraising manager for Sheffield, said: “It’s great to see the people of Sheffield inspired by John raising money for people affected by cancer.”
