South Yorkshire Police are appealing for more information on a hit and run collision, which has left a female cyclist unable to walk.

The collision occurred in Doncaster Road, Branton, at around 10.30am on Thursday, 10 April.

The 60-year-old cyclist was travelling from Branton towards Auckley, in the 40mph zone, when she was in collision with a silver car.

She suffered serious pelvic injuries and was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged.

The driver left the scene and has not been traced.

Pc David Carey is leading the investigation into the collision. He said: “Although the woman has been discharged from hospital, her injuries are still very serious.

“At present she is unable to walk and it will be months before she makes a recovery. This may affect her for years to come.

“Someone out there knows what happened that morning. I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and assist the police.

“Perhaps you know who was driving this vehicle, or perhaps you have seen a silver car – potentially with damage – driving in the area.

“If you have any information which could help police, please call us as a matter of urgency on 101, quoting incident number 326 of April 10 2014.”
