police and court staff have helped to collect almost £40,000 in unpaid fines during a week-long operation in Chesterfield.
Officers called at homes to collect outstanding money - and 84 fines were paid in full while a further eight part-payments were made.
A total of 32 arrests was made.
Sgt James McGrogan, who co-ordinated the visits for Derbyshire Police, said: “This is a good example of multi-agency working. In this instance, we joined forces to deal with people who appear to treat the court process with contempt.
“I hope that this operation sends out a clear message to people that failing to pay your court fine is not the easy option and we will be working alongside court officers again in the future.”
The operation was staged from April 21 to 25.
