Officers involved in a pursuit of a van which failed to stop in Rawmarsh traced the driver to his house, where they found cannabis plants growing.

They arrested the man on suspicion of driving and drug production offences, but also found another man in the property who was on South Yorkshire Police's 'wanted' list for another offence.

A spokesman for the Rotherham North Local Policing Team said: "A police sergeant and PCSO on mobile patrols in the Rawmarsh area spotted the driver of a vehicle acting in a suspicious manner."The driver failed to stop and after a pursuit around the Monkwood area he thought he could loose the police in the Manor Farm Estate.

"The driver decamped from the vehicle and after a foot chase through the estate he led us directly to his home address, where he was located hiding in an upstairs bedroom.

"The male was arrested for various driving offences.

"Whilst at the address officers located a cannabis cultivation, so this was another offence to add to the list. Cannabis and equipment were seized.

"To make the incident complete, at this address was a wanted male, who was also arrested.

"Both males were taken to custody."
