Police called to Sheffield brawl arrest men over possession of gun

Police called to a brawl in a Sheffield street were told that two men had threatened a family with a gun.

Officers responded to calls about the incident in Sturton Road, Pitsmoor, and arrested two men - aged 24 and 36 - on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The incident happened at 3.10pm on Sunday, January 24.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Two men have been arrested following reports of a disturbance in Sturton Road, Sheffield.

“Police were contacted at around 3.10pm on Sunday, January 24 to reports a group of men were fighting in the road.

“Upon arrival, it was reported that two men had threatened a family with what is believed to be a handgun.

“A 24-year-old man and a 36-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

“The investigation continues.”
