Police have been called after a man climbed onto scaffolding in Sheffield city centre.

The incident happened at around 11pm last night (Friday, March 6) when the man climbed onto scaffolding near Leopold Square.

An eyewitness said she was waiting for a bus outside All Bar One, when 'loads’ of police and firefighters turned up.

“The police were looking on roof along with fire brigade and fire ladders,” she said.

"Next thing a man was led out of the hotel with his face almost totally covered before he was searched and arrested”

A South Yorkshire Police Spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 10.55pm last night with reports of concerns for the safety of a man.

“Officers attended to find a man had climbed onto scaffolding near to Leopold Square.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue also attended and the incident was swiftly resolved, with the man being returned to safety.”
