Police arm homeless with support packs

Officers from the Chesterfield Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team have put together a pack of support information for homeless or rough sleepers and are handing them out during patrols.

The packs contain details of organisations which offer food for the homeless including when and where they are available with contact numbers for charities which offer support and council services.

PCSO Adele Chapman-Jones of the Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team has put together the information and will be giving out the details during her patrols.

She said: “We’re giving out the packs to those find themselves on the street just so they know where they can go to get food or a meal and who to call or where to go if they need support.

“While I know that it’s just a list, I spend time talking to people about places they can go and I hope that by having this information then they know which organisations to turn to if they would like help.”
