Police appeal for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was injured after a collision in South Yorkshire

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision which left a 12-year-old boy seriously injured.

The collision was reported at 3.10pm, on Thursday, March 12, after a boy had got off a bus that had stopped on Bower Hill, Barnsley, directly opposite the junction with Manor Lane.

Police said the boy crossed the road in front of the bus, trying to get to Manor Lane, and he was reportedly in collision with a grey Volkswagen Polo.The boy sustained a serious injury to his head and was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remains in a serious but stable condition, according to police.Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Anyone with dashcam footage is also urged to contact South Yorkshire Police.Those with information can call police on 101 quoting incident number 517 of March 12.
