Firefighters dealt with an arson attack at a block of flats in Sheffield after a rubbish chute was set on fire.

The fire in Greenland Way, Darnall, was discovered at 12.05am on Sunday.

Firefighters said the blaze was started deliberately.

Over the weekend crews also dealt with a fire involving a pick-up truck and a Vauxhall Corsa in Chestnut Avenue, Rossington, Doncaster.

The truck was set alight and flames spread to the Corsa.

A van was also torched in Chaucer Close, Parson Cross, Sheffield.

Grassland was set on fire in Yews Lane, Kendray, Barnsley; Swanee Road, Kenday, Barnsley and Woodhouse Green, Thurcroft, Rotherham.

A pile of rubbish was set alight in Daresbury View, Arbourthorne, Sheffield.

On Friday night two skips were set alight in Farm Road, Kendray, Barnsley and Lawn Avenue, Woodlands, Doncaster.

A Rover City was torched in Crown Close, Worsbrough, Barnsley.
