Poker night attack victim ‘critical’

A MAN is fighting for his life after being violently attacked as he left a pub in South Yorkshire.

The 37-year-old, from Carcroft, Doncaster, who has not been named, was leaving The Grovehouse in York Road, Doncaster, in the early hours of Friday following a poker night at the pub when he was attacked by another man.

Police say the attack took place close to the pub’s car park at around 1.15am. No weapon was used.

The victim was left with what police describe as serious head injuries.

He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where his condition is being described as ‘critical’.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them. Officers would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have been in the pub on Friday night.
