The final takes place in front of music industry professionals at London’s Islington O2 Academy in London in April.

The winning band will receive £3,000 toward band equipment, as well as recording and releasing an EP, which members of The Pogues will guest produce.

The Pogues formed in London in 1982, fronted by Shane McGowan, and have enjoyed success with songs such as The Irish Rover, Jack’s Heroes and Christmas favourite Fairytale of New York.

The band, pictured above, said: “This is our opportunity to foster courageous and original music. If you have what it takes to record with us and perform at the UK’s best music venues, we’d love you to enter.

“This could be a wholly new and exciting shot at a music career.”

n To enter, visit Academy Music Group by January 16.
