Podium finish for racer

BOY racer Luke Whitworth is fast gaining a reputation as a real speed merchant.

Luke, from Rotherham, demonstrated his ability in the second outing of 2012 in the Lewis Hamilton and Bernie Ecclestone-backed Formula Kart Stars Championship at Ellough Park Raceway, by grittily battling his way to a hard-earned podium finish which has kept him firmly in the title battle.

Better yet, the 17-year-old Wickersley School and Sports College student and MSA Academy member has successfully narrowed the gap to the championship leader from 43 points to 29.

Luke said: “In the club meeting a few weeks ago, we were very quick and won three out of four races and set a new lap record in Junior Rotax.

“I know the competition will be strong again, but it was strong at the club meeting, too. The goal has to be to gain some more ground in the championship standings.”
