No child should go without a gift to open on Christmas Day and JCI Doncaster is making sure that doesn’t happen with its annual Secret Santa Appeal.
The Junior Chamber International appeal, run in conjunction with Doncaster Junior Lawyers, involves asking people to buy a gift that will be donated to children through the local authority for those in care or via Women’s Aid for those who have had to flee domestic violence.
There is no price range for the gift, and collections are for both boys and girls aged up to 17.
A spokesman said: “The presents we collected at the last appeal provided for a family who were fleeing domestic violence, leaving with no belongings.
“There were four children under five, all of whom fled with their mother. As a very vulnerable family these presents went a long way to providing them with some happy Christmas memories and made a huge difference by putting a smile on the children’s faces on Christmas morning.”
Gifts can be donated until December 15 at Atherton Godfrey Solicitors on Hallgate, Doncaster; Grainger Appleyard Solicitors, also on Hallgate and at Lakeside Village – the exact shop is yet to be confirmed.
Alternatively, collections can be arrange by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 07780 642469.
JCI past president Katie Ogley said: “Please follow the appeal on Twitter @SSAppealDN and encourage your followers to support.”
