Aston recently revealed that PNG duo Garry Lo and Menzie Yere are both being ‘managed’ following knee trouble, but the issues are showing no signs of slowing either down, with Lo bagging five tries in last weekend’s victory over Rochdale.
Yere himself also has two tries in as many games.
Aston said that whilst there is no need for alarm this season, Lo will require work at the end of the campaign.
“Garry has something going off with his cartilage” Aston said. “That will need a clean out. The surgeon told him, if you can play, play, and so far he’s getting through it. He still scores tries, and whilst he is doing that then we’ll keep playing him. It’s about managing people. Menzie is at a different age to Garry but they are both resilient.”
Eagles have been fortunate with injuries, but now must do without the services of Kyle Trout for six weeks following an operation on a broken cheekbone.
Aston is also awaiting news on winger Ben Blackmore who hobbled off during Sunday’s victory at Belle Vue.
Duane Straugheir has been pressed back into service following a groin injury, with Aston stating he is another playing through discomfort.
