IAN LAWLOR 7

Produced some fine saves to keep Rovers in touch and commanded his area well as Hartlepool began to bombard them.

MATTY BLAIR 8

Excellent performance by one of the season’s real stars. Always looking to make something happen and direct when others were not.

JOE WRIGHT 7

A fine performance after a disappointing show the previous week. Headed everything away and showed real composure under pressure.

ANDY BUTLER 6

Had performed well alongside Wright but was at fault for Hartlepool’s equaliser, caught in possession only a few yards from his own goal.

CRAIG ALCOCK 5

Up and down performance playing at left back, looking solid enough defensively but gave the ball away far too much.

LUKE MCCULLOUGH 4

As poor a performance as he has produced in Rovers colours. Struggled to make a single pass which only increased the pressure on Rovers.

NIALL MASON 5

Moved to right midfield for this clash but contributed little going forward. Was overrun easily when switched to defensive midfield in second half.

TOMMY ROWE 5

As ineffective a performance as Rowe has delivered this season. Involved not nearly as much as usual in attacking terms.

JAMES COPPINGER 6

Showed some incredible individual skill to make things happen for Rovers but also gave the ball away on numerous occasions.

JOHN MARQUIS 5

A shadow of the lethal striker on show for much of the season. Struggled for openings and tried too hard to find them

ANDY WILLIAMS 6

Showed good reactions to take his goal but struggled for much more and had difficulty imposing himself on the game.

SUBS USED

CONOR GRANT 5

Replaced McCullough and had very little impact on the game until Rovers were chasing it.

AARON TAYLOR-SINCLAIR 5

Sent on to add height in place of Coppinger but made little contribution in a left wing role.

GARY MCSHEFFREY

Did little following his introduction but did at least try to get into advanced positions as Rovers chased the game.
