COMMUNITY tree planting events are taking place across Sheffield.

Tomorrow three trees will be planted on land at Firshill Crescent by council forestry officers and Sheaf Training horticulture students.

On Saturday an ancient hedgeline near Bramley Avenue at Smelter Wood and Shirtcliffe Woods will be replanted by the Friends group and volunteers from Sheffield Hallam University.

And next Friday from 10am to noon, and from 1pm to 2.30pm, 60 whips and three heavy standards will be planted at Norcroft Cottages at Woodhouse Lane, with Beighton Environment Group, council rangers, and pupils from Reignhead School.

On November 30, tots from Tinsley Nursery will join two planting sessions on Tinsley Green.
