Plans to ban a left turn from Sheffield’s second busiest road are likely to be abandoned as it could have an effect on businesses.

The change to the turn from Penistone Road into Herries Road was proposed so that a facility allowing pedestrians and cyclists to cross Herries Road South under signal control could be put in place.

But, after people objected, further discussions found it would likely have an ‘adverse impact’ on some businesses as it would increase journey time and make access ‘tortuous’.

A Sheffield Council committee is recommended to drop the plans tomorrow.
