Plans for the annual Festival of Light at St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield are underway.

The annual Christmas celebration – one of the biggest events in the St Luke’s calendar – involves the hospice and trees outside being decorated with thousands of white lights, all dedicated to loved ones.

This year’s official switch on will take place on Sunday, December 7 at 6pm and the lights will shine throughout the holiday period, finishing on January 6

The ceremony, which this year is being sponsored by Sheffield company Insight UK, will also feature seasonal music from the Holymoorside Brass Band and the City of Sheffield Teachers’ Choir.

This year’s festival will be the 17th at the hospice.

St Luke’s Director of Patient Care, Judith Park, said: “For many of our friends and supporters in Sheffield this event has come to mark the start of their Christmas season.”
