The proposals put forward by Siddiqiya Mosque on Burngreave Road will involve a partial demolition of the community centre as part of a wider refurbishment.

The development also includes plans to build a two storey extension to the rear of the structure and a new lobby entrance to the front.

The mosque, which has been on the Burngreave site since 1986, had a similar extension proposal rejected in 1996.

The amended plans will include a wash room, a kitchen and a remembrance room. Neighbours have been informed of the planned development.

Councillors on the planning committee will discuss the proposal next month.
