Plans have been approved for a new nine screen cinema and restaurant development in Barnsley.
Barnsley Council planners gave the green light for the Alhambra Shopping Centre to be extended for leisure use.
The multi-million pound plans a nine screen cinema and six restaurants.
Sean McVeigh, asset manager for landlords F&C REIT, said: “This multi-million pound investment will bring a much needed leisure hub to Barnsley and confirms our belief and commitment to the town centre.
“We are pleased to be working with Barnsley Council to ensure the delivery of a leisure destination which will not just be for the local people of Barnsley but also for the people from the surrounding area which will also benefit the local economy.
“The new development is estimated to bring 230 new jobs to the town and will add it to the Barnsley offering.”
Shopping centre manager John Tarrant said: “It is a really exciting time for the centre with great interest in retail lettings too.
“The local community has really got behind our latest plans and it is good to see support from Barnsley Council who can see the economic benefits to the area”.
