PLANS to dispose of land in Wybourn for new homes are set to be approved by Sheffield Council.
The authority’s cabinet will look at proposals to dispose of two sites at Cricket Inn Road next Wednesday December 12.
Subject to planning permission, the site would be sold to Great Places Housing Group to build around 70 apartments, family homes and bungalows.
They would be available at the affordable rent mark – 80 per cent of the market rent a property could achieve – to help meet housing need.
Coun Harry Harpham, cabinet member for housing, said the homes would particularly benefit older Wybourn residents who needed more suitable accommodation. Most bungalows will be let to existing Wybourn tenants.
Sheffield Council has already approved proposals to build 2,300 new affordable housing on derelict sites around the city.
They will be created through the Sheffield Housing Company - a consortium involving the council and private organisations.
