Plan appeal turned down

GOVERNMENT planning bosses have backed Doncaster Council over a controversial housing scheme in Armthorpe.

Inspectors at the Department for Communities and Local Government refused developer Dennis Noel’s appeal after he tried to get the council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a flat at Mere Lane overthrown.

The flat would have occupied a site between an ice cream shop and a hot food take away.

But inspector Brendan Lyons said: “The proposed house would be out of character by appearing to be squeezed in between earlier buildings on each side.”
