Pigeons and chickens killed after sheds torched in Barnsley allotments arson attack

Racing pigeons and chickens were killed by arsonists who set fire to sheds on allotment plots in Barnsley.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at Hunningley allotments, Hunningley Lane, Stairfoot, at about 4am this morning (Tuesday, March 15). They found six buildings alight, including at least one chicken coop and several pigeon lofts.

The sheds were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. They found two separate seats of fire - one involving two buildings and another involving four.
