DRINKERS were invited to tuck in to a tasty treat as a Sheffield pub marked national pie week with an eating competition.
About a dozen teams of four entered the contest at The Hop, Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield city centre, competing over two nights to eat four pies from West Yorkshire butcher Andrew Jones in a relay in the quickest time.
Tom Baker, The Hop general manager, said: “It seemed like a good idea, a bit of fun and also to bring people into the pub.
“Everyone enjoyed it.”
The 25-year-old, who has been in charge of The Hop since it opened in December, said the contest was won by Team Steal, a quartet from Reed Employment, who finished their four pies in the final in a time of seven minutes and five seconds to win £100 and six months of complimentary Andrew Jones pies.
